Harrison Hot Springs is a FANTASTIC place to visit, especially with kids. Aside from just walking on the beautiful beach, there’s the Spirit Trail close by, as well as Sandy Cove and Whippoorwill Point.

Whippoorwill Point is an extension of Sandy Cove, so you can click here for that post.

Once you reach the bottom of the hill, instead of turning right to get to Sandy Cove, you’re going to take a left to continue on Whippoorwill Point.

The trail is fairly well groomed. You’ll need to be very aware of trail markers, as the trail has some offshoots that can be misleading. Keep an eye open for trail markers on trees, both high and low.

It is fairly wide, but does have some parts where it becomes a bit narrow. At some points it’s a bit uneven, but it isn’t terribly hard to navigate.

There is a LOT on either side of the trail to see; rock faces, fallen trees, moss covered logs…so much cool stuff to see!

The trail runs along the river and offers some beautiful views.

The trail loops around and eventually takes you down to Sandy Cove! Prepare to spend some time here…because it’s awesome! **Make sure to pack bathing suits and/or spare clothes. If you don’t, you may find that your 7 year old decides that the urge to swim outweighed the consequence of having to hike back to the car in whatever we could scrounge up that was dry amongst the rest of our group.

To get back to your car, you’ll need to go to the other end of the beach from where the Whippoorwill Point trail ends at. You’ll see an entrance to the Sandy Cove trail there that will lead you back!
